Suriya was the first choice for Parasakthi directed by Sudha Kongara and the film is set in the 1960s and is based on real incidents.
Sudha first narrated the story to Suriya and discussions went on for several months. However the actor later decided to step away from the project.
Earlier Suriya and Sudha had worked together on Soorarai Pottru which became a huge success and earned critical acclaim especially for Suriya’s performance.
After Suriya exited the director approached Sivakarthikeyan. The film released on January 10th but failed to impress. Despite facing no major competition it is struggling at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Looking back Suriya’s decision to walk away seems like a relief.
